Meet Izzy Paine – one of Mindshift’s Multimedia Designers

Hey Izzy, do you mind giving us the lowdown on what you do at Mindshift?

As a multimedia designer at Mindshift you will find me creating illustrations, animations, posters, e-learning modules... it all passes through the hands of our design team. Personally I like to bring a bright creative energy to our work, especially when dealing with the drier cyber security topics that could really use an extra dose of brightness and creative communication.

What are hobbies or interests out of work?

I am an enthusiastic creator, so you will find me crocheting, weaving, drawing, painting, pretty much any creative hobby I can get my hands on! Last year I was working towards a painting exhibition at Baobab in Wellington, where I sold some of my work and this year, I am working on a new collection that incorporates weaving and fibres into my paintings.

What inspired you to join Mindshift, and how has your journey been so far?

After my Masters in User Experience Design, I was looking for work where my problem-solving skills and my illustration and animation skills could both come into play. Mindshift has been a perfect match, providing a real variety of projects and clients to work with, and has been a great playground to stretch and grow my skills.

What security habits did you change when you started working for Mindshift?

The first thing I did was get a password manager. It is one of those things that feels like it's going to be a mission to set up, so I had been putting it off for a while! But when I got this job, I knew I would have to put in the mahi and get it done - nowadays I don't know how I lived without it! Other then that, the main thing that has changed for me is my mindset. When you have seen enough cyber security communications, the content just sinks in and now I can't help but think a second longer every time I receive an attachment in a Facebook message or using a passphrase when I set-up a new password.
